2014 Performance Tables

The 2014 GCSE results proved a testament to the hard work and shared vision of our students, staff, governors and parents,  with our 5 A*-C including English and maths increasing to 83%, 5A*-C increasing to 87% and with outstanding progress figures with 93% of our students making at least 3 levels of progress across KS2-KS4 in English and 91% in Mathematics.

Confirmation of how good a year 2014 was, came with the release of the secondary school performance tables,  published annually by the Department for Education to provide information on the achievements of pupils in secondary schools at the age of 16. The performance tables provide data and information about Pupils' GCSE (and equivalent) results, the proportion of pupils making expected progress in English and mathematics, value added scores comparing the progress made by pupils in the school with all pupils nationally.

To compare our KS4 results with the other 152 Lancashire Secondary Schools please click here.

Particular highlights from the comparisons with other Lancashire schools include;

  • 83% of students achieved 5+ A*-C GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and maths GCSEs, compared with 65.5% nationally –8th  In Lancashire
  • 92% of students making expected progress in English, compared with 71.6% nationally – 4th  In Lancashire
  • 90% making expected progress in mathematics, compared with 65.5% nationally – 7th  In Lancashire
  • 51% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate qualification, compared with 22.9% nationally - 6th  In Lancashire

It is worth noting that a significant proportion of the other high performing schools in Lancashire who feature prominently in the comparison performance tables are selective schools, fee paying or both, making our students and teachers achievements even more pleasing.

The performance tables clearly show high levels of achievement across all the key measures, and that furthermore all student groups (such as students entering at Level 4, Disadvantaged Students etc.) did exceptionally well when compared to national figures and the other schools in Lancashire.
