Admissions and Appeals for Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy
Bishop Rawstorne is the school of choice for families who live within our foundation and named parishes, but we also take students from a broad geographical area. Students are awarded places either through faith commitment or geographical location. Once places are allocated at the start of March each year, some families choose to go on our waiting list in order to get a place or choose to go down an appeal route. We do not give priority to applications from students enrolled at particular primary schools.
Our published admission number (PAN) for 2024/2025 is 190. At the start of the academic year 2023/2024 we had 194 students on roll in Year 7.

Changing Schools During the School Year
An in-year admission is the process of applying for a school place during the school year. Any applications made after the start of the autumn term will be treated as an in-year application. The in-year admission process is managed by Bishop Rawstorne and parents are required to complete the in-year application form, available below:
In-Year Appeal Admissions Supplementary Form 2024 - 2025
School will inform parents within 15 school days if the year group that they are applying for is full or oversubscribed and school are unable to offer their child a place. If this is the case then school will contact parents/guardians with details of the appeals process.
Where a place cannot be secured, parents will be offered a legal right of appeal to an independent appeal panel. Lancashire County Council administers the appeals process on behalf of the school.
