Our Facilities

The Academy has excellent, purpose-built buildings and comprehensive sports facilities. Many of our buildings have been built or modernised in recent years and the facilities have been specifically tailored to students needs in order to best support them in each curriculum area. We are committed to investing and upgrading our infrastructure in the future ensuring we continue to cater for our students’ changing needs and their on-going success.

A summary of some of our facilities is below:

  • Curriculum areas are purpose-built, with the newer buildings including ramps, disabled toilets, and lift access in our English block.
  • Our sports facilities include playing fields, a fully equipped sports hall, gymnasium, netball and tennis courts and a 3G pitch.
  • The main block contains our Maths, MFL, History and RE curriculum areas and is also where the hall and gymnasium are located. The hall is used for worship, school productions and parental and whole school events.
  • The Science block contains 8 fully equipped science laboratories, including dedicated rooms for Physics, Biology and Chemistry and a Science prep room.
  • Our vibrant and engaging Art & Technology block has 8 rooms for Design and Technology, Art, Textiles, Engineering, Computing and Graphics.
  • The English block is a modern building with inspirational artwork, and has 6 classrooms for English and Drama students.
  • Learning Support is our newest building and is a quiet, supportive space away from the main school for our most vulnerable students.
  • A chapel is used for weekly worships by tutor groups, as well as for club and staff meetings, a reflection area and trainee planning space.
  • The Learning Resource Centre is our school library and students can access computers, photocopying and printing services in break and lunch times.
  • ICT facilities are situated in the individual curriculum areas.
  • The school grounds have a number of different areas for students to socialise with their peers in break times, including three separate dining areas, benches, picnic areas and grassy areas, available in the summer.
  • Each year group has a dedicated toilet block which are all located in different buildings around the school.

The following key school improvements have been made since 2022:

  • A new reception area, creating a pleasant welcome for visitors whilst ensuring the safeguarding of our students through separate areas for visitors and students requiring office assistance whilst in school.
  • A new Learning Support building, with dedicated areas for students who need more targeted support or first aid assistance.
  • Regeneration of the ‘hub’ in the Art and Technology block to create an additional teaching space for design & technology students.
  • A new chapel and multi-functional space, created by converting an underused staff room.
  • Solar panels on our main building and the ‘A’ block, allowing us to meet all our energy demands during school hours on decent weather days and help us move towards the government’s decarbonisation targets.
  • Air source heat pumps installed in the Science and Technology blocks, to assist with power in the winter months and help keep our fuel bills more manageable.
  • New dining tables and benches for students in Beaumont's Café.
  • Reconfiguration of some rooms to create extra classrooms for MFL and Geography.
